Hessentagsmarathon

Feine Sache, die Idde einen Marathon zum Hessentag zu machen. Hoffentlich wird daraus eine Serie. Die Veranstaltung - erwartungsgemäß - recht klein, aber klasse organisiert. Kühles Wetter am Start, dier Kurs macht eine kleine Runde durch die Stadt, dann wirds schnell hügelig. Hochtaunuskreis ist wohl ernst gemeint. Waldwege wechseln mit Strasse, es gibt immer wieder z.T. erhebliche Anstiege. Ich laufe zusammen mit Markus Z., schnell wird klar, dass es heute keine Bestzeiten gibt. Insgesamt ein guter Lauf, wahrscheinlich wäre noch mehr gegangen, aber so war es auch gut.

Kleines Land, grosser Sport

Kurzer Wochenendtrip nach Kopenhagen. Samstag mittag hin, Sontag abend zurück. Morgens noch Maggus getroffen, der war radeln. Kopenhagen sonnig und mild, unglaublich viele Menschen auf der Strasse. Burger & Bier zum Abendessen, dann zurück ins reudige Hotel. Morgens zum Start, es ist voll. Selbst auf Höhe des 4 Stunden Blocks keine Chance, mich irgendwo dazwischen zu schieben. Es dauert kanppe 10 Minuten, bis ich über die Startlinie bin und hinter mir wirds nicht weniger. 12000 Starter, und alles echte Marathoner, keine Staffeln, keine anderen Läufe. Das ist schon enorm viel. Der Lauf recht flach, gute Verpflegung, Ergebnis sehr zufriedenstellend. Direkt zum Flughafen, in der Lounge schnell duschen und ab nach Hause.

Dritter Düsseldorf Marathon, Organiosation wie immer 1A. Diesmal direkt mit dem Auto angereist. Beschilderung sehr bescheiden. Die Strecke leicht verändert, diesmal gibts die grosse Brücke am Anfang. Ansonsten mittelmässige Stimmung, (zu) warm. Laufe die letzten 5 Kilometer barfuss. Geht unwerwartet gut. Bestzeit für DD.

Langes Wien-Wochenende mit meiner Freundin. Ich merke die Läufe der vergangenen Wochen. Start um 9 Uhr, noch um 8:30 liege ich im Bett und überlege, ob ich laufen soll. Dann schnell duschen, 2 Stationen mit der U-Bahn und los gehts. Derm Lauf riesig, 25.000 Starter, alle auf einmal. Es ist warm, viele Zuschauer, guter Kurs. Das wird ein Spasslauf, ich gehe es langsam an. Der schwere Teil - die Kilometer 25-35 sind schattig, stimmungsvolle Musik dröhnt aus den Lautsprechern, das macht es einfach. Toller Zieleinlauf am - passenderweise - Heldenplatz.

Zu warm in der alten Hauptstadt

Viel zu warmes Wetter für Anfang April dämpft die Zeit im sehr schönen und stimmungsvollen Marathon. Der Bundespräsident gibt persönlich den Startschuss, das mit der Krawattenlänge üben wir noch mal. Losgelaufen auf 4 Stunden, am Ende aber einfach zu warm.

Kalt, reudig, super Zeit

Es ist kalt, es ist feucht, es ist - darüber täuscht auch das nagelneue Einkaufszentrum nicht hinweg - Osteuropa. Der Unterschied im Stadtbild zum 60 km entfernt liegenden Wien sind enorm. Die Leute, die hier zum laufen antreten, meinen es ernst. Der Kurs ist schnell, die Leute auch, viel zu sehen gibt es ausser einer kurzen Scheife durch die Innenstadt auf dem 2-Rundenkurs nicht. Ich laufe zügig los, merke glich, dass das Hauptfeld weit vor mir ist. So lauf ich allein. Halbzeit in knapp 1:55, das könnte richtig gut werden. Ich versuche das Tempo zu halten, was auch fast gelingt. Nach meiner Uhr laufe ich nach 3:55 ins Ziel. Scheinbar hat jedoch mein Chip nicht funktioniert, so kriege ich am Ende die Clocktime von 3:58:05. Dennoch, beste Zeit seit 2007. Sehr zufrieden.

Saisonauftakt in der Türkei, gussartiger Regen und knöchelhoch stehendes Wasser am Start, danach wird es vom Wetter besser, aber sehr viel Gegenwind. Die Strecke mit recht viel Steigung an Anfang und Ende, dazwischen eine sehr lange flache Passage. Insgesamt gut, Ergebnis zufriedenstellend.

Mein vierter Frankfurt Marathon, das Wetter wie immer gut, kühl und sonnig. Ich laufe die ersten 30 Kilometer mit Markus Z., etwas zu schnell für mich. Den Rest dann ein wenig langsamer, aber insgesamt ein guter Ausklang für die Saison.

Great weekend in Helsinki with my girlfriend, the race was surprisingly hilly. The weirdest thing was the utter quiet on the course, not for the lack of spectators, but the Fins cheer in whispers.

I didnt’t train,am totally unfit,but I won the race entry (and a stay at the great Radisson Blue not 500m from the start line) from ARQUE,so I figured I couldn’t cheat out of this one.
The run went surprisingly well and I am super happy with the result.

…starts with a good run. At exactly midnight we are sent off on a 10k loop course. Rainy,cold,somewhat bizarre,but at 5 AM on Jan. 1st I already have the first marathon in the can :-))

After having a ton of fun at last weeks marathon in the Algäu region,I figured I might just do it again. Found a cheap hotel and took the train down on Friday afternoon. The town –more a village actually –itself has not much to offer,so it was just dinner and off to bed early.

(As almost every time) I was ill prepared for the race,not only physically,but also as far as knowing what the race is about. I had assumed it is called Gebirgsmarathon (mountain marathon),because it is held in a mountainous region of Germany and probably has some hills in it’s course.

‘Some hills’in numbers translated to 2700m (8100 ft.) of difference in altitude uphill and 2400m (7200 ft.) downhill. Subtracting about 7km of course that was more-or-less level,that means 35km with a total difference in altitude of 5100m,resulting in an !average! incline of 14.5 percent. A category one climb in the tour de france is a total joke in comparison.

Pickup of the ‘race packet’(an envelop containing the race bib) and payment is 30 mins. before the race,all is held in a very familiar setting and it is clear to see that everyone is a veteran here.

Start at 8:00 and after 2 minutes it is clear that I will bringing up the rear end of this event. Doesn’t matter,I’m here for a fun run anyhow. First aid station after 6km,took me about an hour and I felt like is was about to die. And it went all downhill from there. (Unfortunately just figuratively).

Steep downhill sections interchanged with inclines before each of which I was just staring at the mountain in front of me thinking ‘this ain’t true’.
5 mountaintops later,I reached the halfway-point after 4:00 hrs. Had some coke and bars,relaxed for some minutes and then started the way back. Unfortunately that wasn’t any easier.
Reached the finish a bit after 4 pm,totally dead but happy.

If a run in the mountains is what you want,this is great fun. If you are looking for a marathon,or want to try a trail run for the first time,better go someplace else.

Not much to say about this one,the marathon is more of an attachment to the 100k that is the main attraction here. Its a trail run,some ups and downs,but very doable after all. I don’t feel to well (maybe Oettinger Weizen @Dr.B.s birthday last night has something to do with it) and take it very slow. At the end I meet a nice guy with whom I walk the last 5k or so,otherwise I would probably finished in under 6h, but it doesn’t matter anyhow. Planned on running the Mannheim marathon in the evening, instead I call it a day and have birthday dinner with my mom.
